SENIOR STAFF

Gabrielle Moreland

Chief Executive

Gabrielle Moreland is a qualified Orthoptist and Health Administrator. Her post-graduate studies include a Bachelor of Health Management and, more recently, a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration. She is a member of the Australian Association of Practice Managers, the Australian Orthoptic Association, the ACT Practice Managers Network and an associate member of RANZCO. In 2015 she was elected to the Board of the Day Hospitals Australia as the ACT Director and appointed to the Prostheses Listing Advisory Committee for the Department of Health in 2016

Whilst maintaining her clinical role as an Orthoptist, Gabrielle has over 20 years of experience managing in the day surgery environment, developing sound relationships with consumers, health funds, accrediting agencies and statutory bodies.

She is a strong advocate of the quality process.

Cheryl Pollard

General Manager

Cheryl was appointed as General Manager for Canberra Microsurgery in early 2022. With extensive experience in the not-for-profit sector and health, Cheryl is an advocate of high-quality support for patients. 

Cheryl's post-graduate qualifications, including an Executive Masters of Business from Queensland University of Technology, as well as chairing and sitting on numerous boards and committees within the health and NFP sectors in Canberra, allows Cheryl to bring a fresh perspective to Canberra Microsurgery.

Denise Nichols

Nursing Unit Manager

Denise Nichols is a Registered Nurse with post-graduate qualifications in Peri-operative Nursing, Ophthalmic Nursing and a Diploma in Nursing Management.  Denise is a member of the Operating Theatres Association and the ACT Infection Control Association. 

With over 23 years experience managing a day surgery unit Denise is well versed with all aspects of the provision of excellent clinical care. She intends to gain further qualifications in Clinical Coding to support her extensive practical knowledge.

Toy Drake

Finance Manager

Toy Drake is a Qualified Accountant. She has two masters in Professional Accounting and is a registered tax agent and BAS agent, she has more than ten years of experience in the finance and accounting field within a broad range of industries.

Toy now specialises in preparing financial services with the team and she enjoy the world of finance and take every opportunity to contribute and grow her knowledge with the organisation.

Gemma Dunn

Office Manager

THE CLINICAL TEAM

The Surgeons and Anaesthetists are supported by highly skilled nurses. Our team of nurses have extensive experience in the operating suite and work cohesively to ensure that all our patients receive the care they deserve.

All clinical staff receive ongoing education onsite and at regional and national conferences to ensure their skills are current and relevant to the services offered at Canberra Microsurgery. This includes mandatory training in emergency procedures.

THE SUPPORT CREW

Facilitating entry to the day surgery and ensuring all our equipment is prepared are the administration and sterilising staff. They are integral to the smooth running of Canberra Microsurgery.

Each member has joined our group from previous roles in day surgery administration, sterilisation services or customer service roles.
